BLACKSMITHING INTRODUCTION (SAT)
Event description
If blacksmithing has always sparked your interest, now's your chance to dive in! There are only 3 spots available for this rare opportunity to learn the ancient craft firsthand at Smith Art’s workshop in Cawongla, Northern Rivers. Don’t miss out on this unique experience.
Class Project: Pair of Decorative S Hooks
We'll fire-up a coke fuelled forge to explore different blacksmithing techniques of twisting and "drawing-out" steel on the anvil, using hammers and tongs. All this while creating your unique pair of S hooks. Afterwards there'll be free time for you to explore this considerably versatile and creative artform.
Nyree, with her wealth of experience in blacksmithing from artist residencies, fellowships, and eight years working with a restoration company in Spain, is excited to pass on her knowledge. She aims to introduce you to the creative, hands-on world of blacksmithing—skills that might otherwise be hard to access—and help you discover both the artistic and practical side of this craft.
All materials and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be supplied.
